Dr. Christian Morrison, a native of the remote northern Idaho backwoods, was homeschooled during his upbringing. After completing his LDS Mission in Las Vegas, Nevada, he returned to the city to earn his Bachelor of Sciences degree with a focus on Microbiology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Subsequently, he pursued his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery at the California School of Podiatric Medicine at Samuel Merritt University in California. While he cherished his time in California, he was thrilled to relocate to his beloved state, Texas.
Dr. Asif Khan was raised in the metro Detroit area, and earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan, Dearborn. He then went on to earn his doctorate in podiatric medicine and surgery from California School of Podiatric Medicine at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, CA.
Dr. Khan returned to Michigan to complete his residency in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery at Beaumont Health, where he served as Chief Resident his final year of training. He then went on to complete a prestigious fellowship at Beaumont Health in Diabetic Limb Salvage and Wound Care.
Dr. Khan is Board Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine (ABPM). He also holds the Certificate of Added Qualification in Amputation Prevention and Wound Care issued by the ABPM. Dr. Khan's research has been published in multiple medical journals.
In his free time, Dr. Khan enjoys spending time with his wife and son. He loves calling Texas home and serving the greater Dallas community.
Book your visit online or call us at (972) 643-8242, and if you are on Medicare, let us know your plan so we can verify your benefits before your appointment.
New patients usually get in fast, and in many cases there is an opening the same day. Most people can book without a referral, so there is no extra step before you come in.
At your visit our board-certified foot and ankle specialists examine your feet, explain what they find, and tell you your options and how your insurance applies, so you know where you stand before any treatment.
*** Please note eligibility for all treatments varies based on insurance and conditions. We will let you know exactly what you qualify for when we contact you. Appointment wait times also vary based on availability.
Patients on Medicare often have questions about seeing a podiatrist, from whether they need a referral to how their benefits work.
In most cases you can get going without one, and that holds for the majority of Medicare patients too. Reach out by phone or send an appointment request, and our staff will walk you through what comes next, factoring in your condition and your coverage.
Most of the time we can fit you in the same day or the next, so a foot or ankle issue does not have to sit and wait. If pain is making it hard to walk or stand, get in touch right away and we will do our best to see you fast.
Yes. We accept Medicare and most major insurance, though what a given visit or treatment is actually covered for comes down to your particular plan and your situation. The simplest next move is to call us or send an appointment request, and we will verify your benefits and explain your options clearly before you commit to anything.
That is what our team is here to help with. Give the office a ring and we will talk through your questions and your options, or put them to one of our specialists when you come in, before you settle on any treatment. If it is after hours, drop your question into the Ask A Question form and we will get back to you with a call.
Lonestar Podiatry & Wound Care is a Plano foot and ankle practice that accepts Medicare and most major insurance, and we verify your benefits and explain your options before any treatment begins. If finding a podiatrist that accepts Medicare has been the thing holding you back, you have found one.
It helps to know how Medicare and podiatry generally fit together. Original Medicare usually covers medically necessary foot and ankle care, the treatment of injuries and diseases of the foot such as heel pain, hammertoes, bunions, foot infections, and diabetic foot problems. Routine foot care on its own, like basic nail trimming or callus removal, is generally not covered unless it is tied to a medical condition, and certain patients with diabetes and nerve damage are an important exception. Medicare Advantage plans work differently from plan to plan. What any of this means for your specific visit depends on your plan and your condition, so we check your benefits for you before your appointment and tell you what we find.
Your care is led by board-certified foot and ankle specialists, Dr. Christian Morrison and Dr. Asif Khan, with added qualification in amputation prevention and wound care and hospital privileges across the area. If you are an older patient, and especially a diabetic patient worried about a wound that is slow to heal, you are seeing specialists trained in limb salvage and wound care at a practice that takes your Medicare. Call us or request an appointment and we will tell you where you stand.
For patients across Plano and the east side of the Dallas area, Lonestar Podiatry & Wound Care is a local, Medicare-accepting foot doctor you can reach without driving into Dallas. Our Plano office sits on Village Drive, and between our two offices we see patients from Plano, Murphy, Rowlett, Rockwall, Wylie, Sachse, and Allen.
Getting to appointments is harder with age and painful feet, so a nearby office helps. We keep an open schedule so new patients can usually be seen the same day or the next, most patients are seen without a referral, and our front office speaks Spanish, so the visit is straightforward from the first phone call. We treat routine diabetic foot care, heel pain and injuries, and wounds that are not healing.
When you are ready, call us at (972) 643-8242 or schedule online, let us know you are on Medicare, and we will verify your benefits and get you in to see a specialist.
