Meet the Team

At Lonestar Podiatry & Wound Care, you are not seeing a general practitioner or a rotating hospitalist, you are working directly with board-certified podiatric physicians who have devoted their careers specifically to wound healing and limb preservation. Both Dr. Christian Morrison and Dr. Asif Khan hold the Certificate of Added Qualification in Amputation Prevention and Wound Care from the American Board of Podiatric Medicine, one of the most specialized credentials available in this field.

For diabetic patients dealing with a wound that will not close, that credential distinction matters. It means your care is being directed by physicians who have demonstrated advanced expertise not just in podiatry, but specifically in the clinical decisions that determine whether a limb is saved or lost.

Our Team’s Qualifications:

  • Board-Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine

  • Certificate of Added Qualification in Amputation Prevention & Wound Care

  • Fellowship Training in Diabetic Limb Salvage and Wound Care

Both of our physicians hold the Certificate of Added Qualification in Amputation Prevention and Wound Care from the American Board of Podiatric Medicine, and Dr. Khan completed a dedicated fellowship in Diabetic Limb Salvage and Wound Care. When a Diabetic Wound Won't Heal, Specialist Care in Murphy Makes the Difference

Diabetic foot wounds do not behave like ordinary injuries. When blood sugar levels are elevated over time, the body loses its ability to fight infection, repair damaged tissue, and deliver the oxygen that healing requires. A wound that would close in days for a healthy patient can persist for weeks or months in a diabetic patient, and with each passing week the risk of deep infection, bone involvement, and amputation rises. Standard wound dressings and a course of antibiotics are often not enough. What these wounds require is a physician who understands the full clinical picture and has the specific training to manage it.

Most patients who come to Lonestar Podiatry and Wound Care in Murphy have already tried something. They saw their primary care doctor. They were referred to a general podiatrist. They followed the instructions and the wound did not close. That experience is more common than it should be, because diabetic wound care is a specialty within a specialty. It requires an understanding of vascular compromise, peripheral neuropathy, wound bed preparation, offloading mechanics, and the point at which conservative care needs to give way to more aggressive intervention. Both Dr. Morrison and Dr. Khan hold the Certificate of Added Qualification in Amputation Prevention and Wound Care from the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Khan completed a dedicated fellowship in Diabetic Limb Salvage and Wound Care. These are not general podiatry credentials. They represent advanced, focused training in exactly the decisions that determine whether a wound closes or a limb is lost.

If you are in Murphy, Plano, Wylie, Sachse, or the surrounding Collin County area and you have a diabetic foot wound that has not responded to prior treatment, the right next step is a consultation with a specialist who can evaluate the wound properly, identify what is preventing healing, and build a treatment plan around closing it. Same-day and next-day appointments are available. No referral is needed to get started.

Diabetic Wound Care Specialists Serving Murphy, Plano, and Collin County

Murphy sits at the center of one of the fastest-growing corridors in North Texas, and the communities along the US-75 and Highway 78 corridors, including Plano, Wylie, Sachse, Allen, and Rowlett, share a common challenge: access to genuine specialist-level wound care without a long drive into Dallas. Collin County has a significant and growing diabetic population, and the demand for physicians who can manage complex diabetic foot wounds close to home has never been higher. Lonestar Podiatry and Wound Care was built specifically to serve this part of North Texas.

The Murphy clinic at 412 Village Drive is the primary location for patients coming from East Plano, Murphy, Wylie, Sachse, and Allen. Saturday morning hours are available for patients who cannot take time away from work during the week. The Rockwall location at 6800 Heritage Parkway serves patients from Rowlett, Rockwall, and the communities east of Dallas. Both locations are staffed by the same two physicians, meaning patients across the entire service area have access to the same specialist-level care regardless of which office they visit.

That care is backed by a credential profile that is uncommon in a suburban podiatry setting. Both Dr. Morrison and Dr. Khan are board-certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and hold the Certificate of Added Qualification in Amputation Prevention and Wound Care. Dr. Khan completed a fellowship in Diabetic Limb Salvage and Wound Care at Beaumont Health. Both physicians hold active hospital privileges at Medical City, Baylor Scott and White, Texas Health, and Methodist, and both have published research in peer-reviewed medical journals. Lonestar has earned more than 1,000 five-star reviews from patients across Collin County and the surrounding communities. Most major insurance plans are accepted, including Medicare, and most patients do not need a referral to be seen. For diabetic patients in Murphy and the surrounding area looking for a wound care specialist they can trust, Lonestar Podiatry and Wound Care is the answer close to home.
