Subsequently, he pursued his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery at the California School of Podiatric Medicine at Samuel Merritt University in California. While he cherished his time in California, he was thrilled to relocate to his beloved state, Texas.
Dr. Asif Khan was raised in the metro Detroit area, and earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan, Dearborn. He then went on to earn his doctorate in podiatric medicine and surgery from California School of Podiatric Medicine at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, CA.
Dr. Khan returned to Michigan to complete his residency in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery at Beaumont Health, where he served as Chief Resident his final year of training. He then went on to complete a prestigious fellowship at Beaumont Health in Diabetic Limb Salvage and Wound Care.
Dr. Khan is Board Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine (ABPM). He also holds the Certificate of Added Qualification in Amputation Prevention and Wound Care issued by the ABPM. Dr. Khan's research has been published in multiple medical journals.
In his free time, Dr. Khan enjoys spending time with his wife and son. He loves calling Texas home and serving the greater Dallas community.
Questions before you book? Phone (972) 643-8242 and talk them over with our staff. Ready already? The online scheduler lets you choose a time yourself.
A visit on the day you call, or the day after, is often possible for someone new to the practice.
Your podiatrist checks your feet, talks through what may be causing the numbness or burning, and walks you through treatment options so you can start when you are ready.
*** How soon you can be seen depends on which appointment slots are open. Your insurance plan and your health history decide which treatments are an option for you; expect our staff to walk you through that on the phone.
Referrals, wait times, Medicare, and whether the feeling in your feet points to neuropathy come up again and again, so we answer them here.
Usually, yes. The majority of people book a first visit without a referral, though your plan and your health can still shape what comes next; the front desk sorts that out when you phone or use the online scheduler.
Same-day and next-day appointments often available. Tell the front desk about any new sore on a numb foot when you phone, and they will look for an earlier opening.
Most major insurance accepted, including Medicare. We will verify your benefits and explain your options. Coverage for a specific treatment still depends on your plan and your condition, and we check that with you before treatment begins.
Call and tell us what your feet are doing. Outside office hours, the appointment request form is the way in, and someone from our office will follow up with you. Either way, a short description of the numbness, burning, or tingling usually tells our staff whether you need a visit or an answer first.
A podiatrist treating foot neuropathy works on the symptoms you feel now and on protecting feet that have lost some of their feeling. Peripheral neuropathy is nerve damage that typically affects the feet and legs, leaving them burning, tingling, numb, or painful.
At Lonestar Podiatry & Wound Care, options that may ease your symptoms include MLS laser treatment for pain and inflammation, PRP injections offered as a regenerative option, and custom orthotics and gait analysis. Dr. Christian Morrison or Dr. Asif Khan reviews which of these suit your condition and your insurance before any treatment begins, and results differ from one patient to the next.
When a foot has lost feeling, a blister or small cut can go unnoticed until it turns into a sore or an infection. For people with diabetes, the National Institutes of Health recommends a foot exam at least once a year, and more often if foot problems are already present.
Dr. Morrison and Dr. Khan are both board-certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and hold the Certificate of Added Qualification in Amputation Prevention and Wound Care. The same practice also handles diabetic foot exams, diabetic shoes, nail care, and care for foot and lower-leg wounds. New patients can book a first evaluation through the online scheduler on this page.
Patients in Rockwall can get foot neuropathy treatment close to home at our office at 6800 Heritage Parkway, Suite 104, Rockwall, TX 75087, which some patients know as our Lake Pointe clinic. It is one of two offices of Lonestar Podiatry & Wound Care, so specialist foot care is available without a drive into Dallas.
We also see patients from Rowlett, Royse City, Garland, and Mesquite, and our second office at 412 Village Drive, Suite 300 in Plano is another choice when its location or schedule suits you better.
Same-day and next-day appointments are often available across our two offices, most patients can book without a referral, and we accept most major insurance, including Medicare, after verifying your benefits. Our team speaks Spanish. Call (972) 643-8242 or schedule online, and mention any sore or blister on a numb foot so we know to fit you in as soon as we can.
