Subsequently, he pursued his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery at the California School of Podiatric Medicine at Samuel Merritt University in California. While he cherished his time in California, he was thrilled to relocate to his beloved state, Texas.
Dr. Asif Khan was raised in the metro Detroit area, and earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan, Dearborn. He then went on to earn his doctorate in podiatric medicine and surgery from California School of Podiatric Medicine at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, CA.
Dr. Khan returned to Michigan to complete his residency in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery at Beaumont Health, where he served as Chief Resident his final year of training. He then went on to complete a prestigious fellowship at Beaumont Health in Diabetic Limb Salvage and Wound Care.
Dr. Khan is Board Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine (ABPM). He also holds the Certificate of Added Qualification in Amputation Prevention and Wound Care issued by the ABPM. Dr. Khan's research has been published in multiple medical journals.

You can schedule your heel pain appointment online directly, or call (972) 643-8242 if you have questions.
We keep openings in our schedule where we can, so new heel pain patients can often be seen the same day or the next.
If you simply want to know what is wrong with your heel, or you have decided to move forward, our podiatrists will walk you through it and give you the care that fits your situation.
Please note: which treatments you are eligible for depends on your plan and your specific condition. When our office reaches you, we will confirm exactly what is covered in your case. How soon we can get you in also depends on current openings.
Answers to the questions we hear most often about heel pain and getting seen.
Most patients do not need a referral. The fastest way to be seen is to call our Plano office or schedule online, and our team will help with the next steps based on your insurance and your condition.
We offer same-day and next-day appointments whenever possible, and heel pain is exactly the kind of problem we try to see quickly before it becomes chronic. If your heel has been hurting, contact us as soon as you can.
We work with most major insurance plans, including Medicare. Coverage can vary by plan and condition, so the best next step is to call or schedule online and our team will verify your benefits and explain your options clearly. We do not promise coverage for a specific treatment before we have checked.
Mild heel pain can settle with rest and better shoes, but pain that lasts more than a week or two, or that is sharp with your first steps in the morning, usually needs a real diagnosis. The sooner the cause is treated, the easier it tends to be to resolve, which is why we do not recommend waiting it out for long.
Heel pain treatment in Plano starts with finding out what is actually causing it, because plantar fasciitis, a heel spur, an irritated Achilles tendon, and a pinched nerve are not treated the same way. At your first visit, you see a board-certified podiatrist, Dr. Christian Morrison or Dr. Asif Khan, who examines the heel, checks how you walk, and takes an in-office X-ray when it helps, so you leave the same day with a clear diagnosis and a treatment plan. Both are board-certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and hold a Certificate of Added Qualification in Amputation Prevention and Wound Care, so a difficult or diabetic heel is in experienced hands.
Most heel pain is treated without surgery. For plantar fasciitis and the common causes, care usually begins with the proven basics done properly: targeted calf and plantar fascia stretching, footwear and activity changes, and custom orthotics made from a gait analysis to take load off the heel. When heel pain is stubborn and has not responded to those steps, there are advanced in-office options here, including shockwave therapy for the plantar fascia and PRP offered as a regenerative option, with eligibility confirmed at your visit.
Surgery is rarely needed for heel pain, and the few cases that call for it are referred appropriately. If your heel has been hurting, the next step is a clear diagnosis, so call (972) 643-8242 or schedule online to be seen.
