Plantar Fasciitis Treatment FAQs
Patients dealing with heel pain often have questions about what is causing it, what treatment involves, and how quickly they can expect relief. Here are the answers we hear most often.
The most common sign is sharp heel pain with your first steps in the morning or after sitting for a long period. The pain often improves as you move around but returns after long periods on your feet. The best way to get a clear answer is to come in — our doctors will examine your foot, confirm the diagnosis, and walk you through your options at that same visit.
We do our best to keep same day and next day appointments available for new patients. The fastest way to get on the schedule is to book online or give us a call directly at (972) 643-8242.
We work with most major insurance plans, including Medicare. Coverage can vary by plan, so the best next step is to call our office or submit an appointment request and our team will verify your benefits and explain your options clearly.
You are welcome to call our office anytime or submit a question through our Ask A Question form and a member of our team will get back to you. We want you to feel completely informed before you ever walk through the door.
Plantar Fasciitis Treatment in Rockwall and the Surrounding Rowlett Area
Patients across Rockwall, Rowlett, Heath, and Royse City come to Lonestar Podiatry & Wound Care when heel pain has stopped them from doing the things they want to do — walking comfortably, staying active, getting through a workday without stopping to rest their feet. Our Rockwall office at 6800 Heritage Parkway serves as the closest option for specialist-level plantar fasciitis care in this part of the Dallas metro, without requiring patients to travel into central Dallas for the kind of advanced treatment that actually addresses the root of the problem.
Rockwall and the surrounding communities have grown significantly over the past several years, and with that growth has come a patient population that is active, health-conscious, and unwilling to accept “just rest and stretch” as a long-term answer to chronic heel pain. The patients we see from this area are typically working adults in their late 30s through 50s who spend time on their feet professionally or recreationally — and who have often already tried the standard conservative measures before coming to us.
At Lonestar, both treating physicians — Dr. Christian Morrison and Dr. Asif Khan — are board-certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and hold the Certificate of Added Qualification in Amputation Prevention and Wound Care from the ABPM, one of the most rigorous specialist credentials in podiatric medicine. Dr. Khan completed an additional fellowship in Diabetic Limb Salvage and Wound Care at Beaumont Health. With more than 1,000 five-star Google reviews across both locations, Lonestar has built a reputation throughout the Collin County and Rockwall County area as the practice patients turn to when they want a real diagnosis and a treatment plan built around lasting correction — not a temporary fix.
For plantar fasciitis treatment near Rockwall, TX, Lonestar Podiatry & Wound Care at 6800 Heritage Parkway offers board-certified specialist care including shockwave therapy, PRP injections, and custom orthotics, with same-day appointments often available.

What Actually Works for Plantar Fasciitis — And When to See a Specialist
Plantar fasciitis develops when repeated stress causes small tears and inflammation in the plantar fascia — the thick band of connective tissue running along the bottom of the foot from the heel bone to the toes. The result is the sharp, stabbing heel pain most patients describe as worst with their first steps in the morning or after sitting for an extended period. As the tissue warms up and loosens, the pain often eases — which is why many patients assume they are improving, only to find the pain returns every time they push too hard or spend a long day on their feet.
Most patients who come to us for plantar fasciitis have already spent weeks or months trying the standard conservative approach — rest, ice, stretching, over-the-counter insoles, and sometimes a round of anti-inflammatory medication. For a portion of patients, that combination is enough. But for those with chronic plantar fasciitis — pain that has persisted beyond three to six months despite consistent conservative care — the underlying tissue damage has typically progressed to a point where the body needs additional support to complete the healing process.
This is where advanced treatment options make a meaningful difference. Shockwave therapy delivers focused acoustic energy to the affected area of the plantar fascia, stimulating the body’s natural healing response and promoting tissue repair at the cellular level. It is non-surgical, requires no downtime, and has strong clinical evidence supporting its effectiveness for chronic cases. PRP injections use a concentrated preparation of the patient’s own platelets to deliver growth factors directly to the damaged fascia tissue, accelerating repair in a way that passive rest cannot replicate. Custom orthotics, fitted specifically to the patient’s foot structure, address the biomechanical factors — excessive pronation, arch collapse, uneven load distribution — that caused the fascia to break down in the first place.
When plantar fasciitis does not respond to rest, stretching, and over-the-counter orthotics, advanced treatments including shockwave therapy and PRP injections have strong clinical evidence for producing lasting relief — and a board-certified podiatrist can determine which approach is appropriate based on how long the condition has been present and how the plantar fascia has responded to prior treatment. At Lonestar Podiatry & Wound Care in Rockwall, same-day appointments are often available so patients can get a clear diagnosis and a treatment plan without waiting weeks to be seen.
