Meet the Team
At Lonestar Podiatry & Wound Care, you are not just getting treatment — you are getting a team of board-certified specialists who have devoted their careers to diabetic wound healing and limb preservation. Our physicians, Dr. Christian Morrison and Dr. Asif Khan, both hold the prestigious Certificate of Added Qualification in Amputation Prevention and Wound Care from the American Board of Podiatric Medicine, and our team regularly sees patients from Garland and the surrounding Dallas communities who need specialist-level wound care without traveling into the city.
When a diabetic wound is not healing, the difference between a generalist and a specialist matters enormously. At Lonestar, every patient receives direct, one-on-one care from a board-certified physician at every visit — never handed off to support staff. We focus on identifying and treating the underlying cause of non-healing wounds, not just managing the surface, so our patients get real results and long-term protection against complications.

Diabetic Wound Care for Garland Patients From Board-Certified Limb Salvage Specialists
Lonestar Podiatry and Wound Care serves patients from Garland, Rowlett, Sachse, and Mesquite at its Murphy and Rockwall locations — both accessible without traveling into central Dallas. For Garland patients, the Murphy location is the most convenient option, same-day appointments are often available, and no referral is needed to get started. Both Dr. Christian Morrison and Dr. Asif Khan are board-certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and hold the Certificate of Added Qualification in Amputation Prevention and Wound Care. Dr. Khan completed an additional fellowship in Diabetic Limb Salvage and Wound Care at Beaumont Health — training focused specifically on the cases where the stakes are highest.
What separates Lonestar from general podiatry practices in the Garland area is the depth of specialization behind the care. Most practices offer diabetic foot care as part of a general service menu. Lonestar’s physicians have devoted focused training specifically to wound healing and amputation prevention, hold active hospital privileges at Medical City, Baylor Scott and White, Texas Health, and Methodist, and have earned more than 1,000 five-star reviews across the Dallas area. For patients in Garland dealing with a wound that is not healing, that distinction matters.

Why Diabetic Wounds Stop Healing and What Specialist Treatment Actually Does
Diabetic wounds fail to heal because high blood sugar damages nerves, restricts circulation, and impairs immune function simultaneously — treating only the wound surface without addressing these underlying factors is why so many diabetic ulcers do not respond to standard care. Peripheral neuropathy means wounds often go unnoticed until they are already serious. Poor circulation means the tissue cannot receive the oxygen it needs to repair. And impaired immune function means infection takes hold faster and spreads further. The American Diabetes Association specifically recommends specialist-level care for wounds that are chronic, previously treated, or have not responded to standard antibiotics and dressings.
At Lonestar, treatment begins with identifying why the wound is not healing — evaluating circulation, nerve function, and infection status before determining the right course of care. Depending on the findings, treatment may include wound debridement, PRP injections, stem cell therapy, custom orthotics to relieve pressure on the wound site, or laser treatment to reduce inflammation. For patients who have already tried wound care elsewhere without success, that history matters and directly informs what comes next. If you are in the Garland area and dealing with a diabetic wound that is not improving, call (972) 643-8242 or schedule online — same-day appointments are often available and no referral is needed.
